Trying to make the transition to natural cleaners? Well, it’s about time! Toxin-free is the way to be, in this day and age many of us are trying to be more health-conscious and environmentally friendly.
Sodium bicarbonate, the official term for baking soda, helps regulate pH. Baking soda is perfect for neutralizing acidic odors and maintaining a neutral pH, which is perfect for doing things like boosting your laundry detergent’s power. It also has the ability to help scrub.
Baking soda deodorizes, neutralizes, and cleans all without the toxic mess of most commercial products!
Some of uses for baking soda include:
1. Freshen Your Breath
Mix 1 tsp of baking soda in a glass of water. Swish, spit, and rinse. This is an easy mouth wash that neutralizes odors.
2. Polish Your Teeth
Many use baking soda as a natural toothpaste, it helps polish and whiten teeth.
3. Gently Exfoliate
Mix 3 parts baking soda to 1 part water, rub gently in a circular motion and then rinse clean. This helps get rid of all the dead skin on feet, knees, elbows, or wherever!
4. Keep Your Brush Clean
Baking Soda helps remove oils, build-up, and residue on your combs and brushes. Simply soak in a solution of water and baking soda, rinse and dry thoroughly.

5. Bathroom Hygiene
Sprinkle some baking soda on your tubs, sinks, or bathroom tiles, scrub with a clean damp washcloth then rinse and dry. This will get rid of all the mildew and water stains in your bathroom.
6. Pamper Your Feet
Soaking your feet in a baking soda solution will help soothe and soften tired feet.

Some people strongly believe that using baking soda instead of shampoo is much better for your hair, simply apply baking soda to your head then finish off with with an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse.

Make a paste of water and baking soda and apply it to your insect bites to instantly relieve itching.
9. Simple Floor Cleaner
This is great for tile floors, use one-half cup baking soda in a bucket of warm water to mop and clean floors, it cleans and deodorizes!
10. Cut Grease Naturally
Add one scoop of baking soda to your normal dish soap and let soak for a while, you will see the grease disappear without scrubbing!
11. Simple Air Freshener
Ironically, most commercial air fresheners are full of toxic chemicals that you shouldn’t breathe, they can harm your lungs. By using baking soda and a few drops of your favorite essential oil, you can make your own harmless air freshener, and it’s easy to customize a signature scent you prefer.
12. Easy Microwave Cleanup
Sprinkle some baking soda on a damp cloth and gently scrub away any microwave messes. It also removes all the unwanted odors trapped in your microwave.
13. Polish Silver
Another simple way to polish your silver is to make a paste of 3 parts baking soda to 1 part water, apply with a clean cloth or sponge, rinse and dry.
14. Oven Cleaner
Sprinkle some baking soda in your oven, spray it with a water bottle and let it sit overnight, scrub it off in the morning and rinse thoroughly.
15. Boost Your Laundry
Adding baking soda helps soften the water making clothes cleaner, fresher, and softer.
16. Deodorize The Refrigerator
Place an open box in the back of your refrigerator and freezer to help neutralize odors. Be sure to change the box every 2-3 months.
17. Unclog Drains
Use baking soda and vinegar to unclog your drains.
18. Carpet Deodorizer
Sprinkle baking soda on your carpet and let sit overnight. Sweep first, then use a vacuum to suck up the dirt and the odors, your carpets will be cleaner!
19. Make Your Own Deodorant
Some people with sensitive skin sprinkle on baking soda as a natural deodorant, you can mix it with equal parts cornstarch as a natural way to help keep dry. This is great for people undergoing chemotherapy who cannot use harsh chemicals! Be aware that on hot, humid days or when indulging in strenuous activity you may need to reapply every once in a while.
20. Keep Ants Out
Mix equal parts baking soda and salt then sprinkle the mixture wherever you see the ants coming in. It will stop them in their tracks!!!
